THE 1 IN 60 RULE
In aviation, the 1 in 60 Rule states that being 1 degree off course results in being 1 nautical mile off for every 60 miles traveled. On a transcontinental flight from New York to Los Angeles (~2,450 NM), being just 1 degree off could place you 40 NM from your destination, potentially landing in a completely different city, like Thousand Oaks, CA, instead of Los Angeles.
EXAMPLES OF THE ACCUMULATION EFFECT
The Accumulation Effect is the principle that small, consistent actions (habits) compound over time, leading to significant outcomes.
Positive actions create momentum toward success.
Negative actions or inaction result in deviation or stagnation.
REAL ESTATE LEADS, LEADS and more LEADS: Question: What is Tim and Julie Harrisās favorite PROBATE LEAD PROVIDER? Simple, ALL THE LEADS
1. PAUL RABIL: LACROSSE LEGEND
Story: Paul Rabilās coach told him the key to success was taking 100 shots dailyāevery single day, without exception. For 20 years, Paul found a way to stick to this routine through sickness, bad weather, and holidays.
Lesson: Identify your ārepsā in your fieldādaily actions within your control that contribute to mastery.
2. COMPOUND INTEREST IN FINANCE
Illustration: Saving $5 a day may seem insignificant, but with time and compounding, it can grow into a substantial sum. Similarly, small efforts compound into big results over time.
3. FITNESS AND HEALTH
Example (Positive)*: A 30-minute walk each day may not feel transformative, but it can significantly improve physical and mental health over a year.
Example (Negative)*: Adults gain an average of 1-2 pounds per year after age 25. Over a decade, this adds up to 10-20 pounds, contributing to a growing obesity crisis. Currently, 42.4% of U.S. adults are classified as having obesity. This increases the risk of conditions like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, and joint problems
4. CREATIVE OR BUSINESS GROWTH
Example: Sending five thank-you or congratulations cards daily might seem small, but over a year, this adds up to over 1,300 connections. The accumulation of gratitude and recognition strengthens relationships and opens doors to future opportunities.
5. SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH
Quote: āWhen you pray, move your feet.ā ā African Proverb
Actionable faith or intention feeds into real-world change.
Quotes to Reinforce the Concept
āSmall daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results.āā Robin Sharma
āYou do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.āā James Clear
āAction feeds momentum. Stress and anxiety feed on idleness.āā Ryan Holiday

ACTION STEPS FOR LISTENERS

Determine one small, consistent action that aligns with your goals. For example:Sales: Reach out to five new prospects each day.
Client Appreciation: Send five thank-you or congratulatory cards daily to strengthen relationships.
Fitness: Walk 10,000 steps daily to boost overall well-being.
Build Non-Negotiable Habits:
Commit to these actions every day, without excuses. Consistency is key to long-term success.Track Your Progress:
Use a journal, app, or calendar to monitor your daily activities. Consider hiring a coach for added accountability.Reflect and Adjust:
Review your progress monthly or quarterly. Ensure your daily actions align with your long-term objectives and make adjustments as necessary.Celebrate Small Wins:

Commit to mastering one new strategy this year that could generate at least one extra deal monthly, potentially adding $120,000 annually to your income.

THE NEGATIVE ACCUMULATION EFFECT: A CAUTIONARY TALE
While the positive Accumulation Effect fosters growth, the negative side warns of how small, poor habits can compound into significant problems over time.
Health Impact: Gaining just 1-2 pounds annually can add up to 10-20 extra pounds over a decade, contributing to obesity and related health risks such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, certain cancers, and mental health challenges like anxiety and depression.
The Boiling Frog Metaphor: Small, incremental changesāwhether positive or negativeācan go unnoticed until the effects become substantial. Awareness and intentional actions are crucial to avoid the pitfalls of negative accumulation.
